Climate change is no longer a future risk — it is a strategic, financial and governance issue reshaping capital markets, investor expectations and regulatory requirements. This two‑part online training is designed to support listed companies and market participants in understanding climate change as a material business risk and in building credible, practical climate transition plans aligned with global best practice and the South African context. Participants will gain practical insight into climate‑related risk, disclosure expectations and the key components of a robust transition plan that supports long‑term business resilience.

Module Structure (2‑Part Course)

Module 1 — Climate Change in the Listed Environment

This module explores climate change as a strategic risk in capital markets and its practical implications for listed companies, including:

• Climate‑related transition and physical risks
• South African climate policy and regulatory developments
• JSE sustainability and climate disclosure guidance
• Key global disclosure frameworks (including TCFD)
• The risks of inaction and the benefits of proactive climate action

Module 2 — Building a Climate Transition Plan

This module provides a practical framework for developing a credible climate transition plan, covering:

• GHG inventories (Scopes 1, 2 and 3)
• Risk and opportunity assessment
• Target‑setting and transition milestones
• Governance, strategy integration and reporting
• Case study insights from leading listed organisations
