C is for Craft, with artist Ryan Hawaii

Next up: C is for Craft with Ryan Hawaii, bringing his world of drawing, textiles, symbolism and DIY culture to the Timberland A-Z.

Ryan Hawaii is an artist whose practice spans drawing, textile works, garments, paintings and soft sculpture. His work explores spiritual and metaphysical ideas, translating personal theories on existence into physical forms. Working with embroidery and felt, Ryan creates surreal, symbolist works rooted in philosophy and folklore, with influences from his Cuban and Jamaican heritage.

For this residency, Ryan is bringing that practice into a live patch service, creating a world of custom graphics inspired by Timberland, London and the ideas behind the A-Z Timberland Dictionary.

The session

Step into Ryan’s customisation studio and make something that’s completely your own. Choose from a collection of bespoke patches created exclusively for the experience, including designs inspired by every letter of the Global Timberland A-Z, alongside a selection of Ryan’s existing patch designs.

Pick the patches that speak to you, decide how you want to arrange them, then work with Ryan to bring your formation to life on your Timberland product. Whether you’re drawn to a single symbol or want to build a whole story, every combination is unique.

With bespoke patches created for the experience, no two pieces need to look the same. The result is a genuine 1-of-1 Timberland piece, created by you and brought to life through Ryan’s practice.

How it works

Sign up for a session and head to the patch service, where you’ll be able to explore Ryan’s collection of patches and select the designs that resonate with you. 

From there, you’ll work with Ryan to create your own formation, inspired by the Timberland A-Z and your own personal story.

Ryan will then customise your bespoke A-Z Timberland Tote bag or any purchased product, turning your chosen patches into a one-off piece to take away. Spaces are limited and this is an in-person-only opportunity, so registering is the only way to secure your place in the experience.
