About the Smart Shipping Programme
The Smart Shipping Programme is delivered by Innovate UK Business Connect and is funded by the Department for Transport, The Programme aims to:
1. Build a UK Smart Shipping Community
2. Enable the adoption of new solutions to create a UK smart shipping industry
DfT has invested £19.2mn up to October 2026 in Smart Shipping technologies as part of their UK SHORE investment programme. Innovate UK Business Connect’s role is to build and mobilise a UK Smart Shipping community around the investment and work with Ports and vessel owner/manufacturers to connect them to key technologies.
