General Internal Medicine Update 2026
Connecting the Past and the Future
Event Overview
RCPI is pleased to present a comprehensive two‑day conference on General Internal Medicine, designed to support consultants and Senior SpRs engaged in the GIM on‑call rota. This programme brings together leading experts across the major sub‑specialties to bridge core pathophysiological principles with the most recent advances in clinical practice. Through focused presentations, guideline updates, pharmacotherapy developments, and case‑based discussions, participants will gain an in‑depth and practical understanding of evolving standards of care in Cardiology, Geriatrics, Rheumatology, Nephrology, Infectious Disease, Respiratory Medicine, Endocrinology, Neurology, and Gastroenterology.
A highlight of the event will be the plenary address from Dr Jason Goldman, President of the American College of Physicians, who will explore the current challenges and emerging solutions shaping the practice of General Internal Medicine. Dr Goldman is a Board‑Certified Internist. He completed his training at Jackson Memorial Hospital and has led a private practice in Florida since 2002 while holding academic and leadership roles within ACP and the wider medical community.
The conference programme is designed to strengthen clinical decision‑making, enhance multidisciplinary practice, and support the delivery of safe, evidence‑based care. Participants will leave equipped with the latest insights, updated management strategies, and a deeper understanding of how new developments influence professional practice, leadership, and ongoing training within GIM services.
All attendees will receive copies of the presentations and access to recordings for six months after the event.
