Programme: Explore AI in Assessment, From Theory to Practice
Move beyond the conversation around AI and explore what it means for assessment in practice.
Through practical workshops, real-world case studies, live demonstrations and expert discussion, you’ll examine how AI is being used across the assessment lifecycle, challenge the evidence behind it and explore what responsible implementation could look like for your organisation.
About the Programme
AI is already changing assessment. The question now is how organisations move from experimentation to responsible, evidence-led implementation.
AI in Assessment: From Theory to Practice brings together assessment leaders, practitioners, awarding organisations, professional bodies, researchers, policy professionals and technology specialists for two days of practical exploration, discussion and shared learning.
Rather than simply talking about the possibilities of AI, the event will examine what is happening in practice: where AI is being used across the assessment lifecycle, what the evidence tells us, where human expertise remains essential, and what organisations need to consider before moving from pilots to wider implementation.
From Understanding to Action
The programme takes delegates through five connected stages:
- Understand
Explore how AI is currently being used across assessment and the needs, concerns and questions emerging across the sector. - See
Hear from organisations putting AI into practice and examine the evidence, challenges and lessons emerging from real-world implementation. - Try
Get hands-on with AI through practical workshops, interactive sessions and live experimentation. - Scrutinise
Look critically at validity, quality, fairness, accessibility, governance, security and the wider consequences of AI-enabled assessment. - Decide
Bring the learning together and consider what a responsible next step could look like within your own organisation.
A Practical, Participatory Programme
Across the two days, delegates will take part in a varied programme of workshops, case studies, demonstrations, research-led discussions and interactive sessions.
The programme will explore AI across the assessment lifecycle, including assessment design and authoring, marking and feedback, moderation and quality assurance, data analysis, integrity, accessibility and operational implementation.
Alongside the main programme, the AI Playground will provide opportunities to explore approaches and technologies in more detail, ask questions and consider the evidence behind different applications of AI.
This is not designed as a showcase of what AI could do. The focus throughout will be on what has been tried, what evidence exists, what limitations have been identified and where assessment expertise and human judgement remain critical.
Please note that the programme is subject to change at the discretion of the event organisers.
