Overview
UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) will invest up to £25 million through this competition, delivered as part of the UKRI R&D Missions Accelerator Programme.This event supports the Consumer Led Flexibility (CLF) for the Clean Energy Superpower Mission funding competition.
The aim of this competition is to support businesses and innovators to develop and scale novel AI, digital and end-to-end solutions that accelerate consumer-led flexibility across the energy system.
About these events
These events are part of a wider programme of engagement to support applicants in developing high-quality proposals aligned to the Consumer Led Flexibility competition scope.
They will bring together organisations from across industry, academia, non-profit, the public sector and the innovation ecosystem to:
- Share insights into the competition scope, themes and expectations
- Facilitate collaboration and consortium-building
- Provide practical guidance on developing strong, outcome-focused proposals
Alongside the webinar and online matchmaking platform, the online surgeries and in-person convening events form a key opportunity to engage with others interested in delivering consumer-led flexibility solutions at scale.

Registration for in-person convening events will be managed separately by the Catapult organisations. To attend those sessions, please refer to the main competition page, where links and further details will be provided, in the background and supporting information.
What to expect
Participants will have opportunities to:
- Understand the competition scope and priorities, including the focus on delivering measurable Consumer Led Flexibility outcomes by 2030
- Connect with potential collaborators across sectors and disciplines
- Develop and test project ideas, sharing capabilities and exploring alignment with the competition themes
- Explore partnership opportunities through facilitated networking and structured discussions
- Gain practical insight to help shape a strong, well-positioned application
These sessions are designed to support early-stage idea development through to more established consortia looking to strengthen their proposal.
Who should attend?
This event is aimed at organisations considering applying to the Consumer Led Flexibility competition and looking to build or enhance a collaborative proposal.
This includes:
- Businesses developing innovative energy, AI or digital solutions
- Technology developers and solution providers
- Energy system stakeholders (including networks, suppliers and aggregators)
- Researchers and academic organisations
- Public sector organisations, local authorities and delivery partners
- Organisations with routes to commercialisation, deployment or end use
- Charities, community organisations and non-profits supporting consumer engagement, inclusion or delivery of energy solutions
Attendance is not mandatory and will not influence funding decisions, but is designed to support those who want to strengthen their application and partnerships.

What can you do on the platform?

- Message individuals directly: Prefer one-to-one contact? No problem! Reach out to people directly to see if you’d be a good match to work together
- Book a meeting with a potential collaborator: These sessions are designed to help you quickly assess each other’s interests and expertise, identify common goals, and uncover synergies
