BAPRAS Nurses Day 2026

Date: 1st of December 2026

Location: Manchester Surgical Skills and Simulation Centre, Stopford Building, Oxford Road, Manchester, M13 9PT

One day hands-on cadaver course aimed at upskilling the civilian plastic surgery population to better manage high volume lower limb wounds, with special considerations for mechanisms of injury relevant to conflict.

If the UK were to become involved in a large-scale conflict, UK plastic surgeons would need to perform high volumes of trauma surgery, irrespective of their subspecialist interest. This course provides an opportunity to upskill and revise lower limb trauma techniques.

There will be at least one member of the Defence Burns and Plastics surgical faculty per cadaver table. A mandatory pre-course learning pack will be sent to delegates at least 2 weeks before the course. This will allow the emphasis to be on performing surgical procedures on the day.

Topics covered

  • Emergency vascular access and shunts
  • Soft tissue coverage of all areas of the lower limb
  • Functional amputations of the lower limb
