Masterclass
Smarter, Not Harder: Generative AI as Your Clinical Second Brain

Every clinician, educator and researcher already has expertise. This masterclass is about using generative AI to extend it with faster literature review, sharper communication, better teaching and less time staring at a blank page.

This is a practical, demonstration-led session built around real clinical and research workflows. Participants will leave with tools they can open the following morning. It draws on a talk series already delivered to clinical and research audiences in Ireland and internationally, now adapted specifically for RCPI's membership community across medicine, paediatrics, pathology and public health.

There are no prerequisites. No coding. No prior AI experience assumed.

· Identify which AI tools are best suited to clinical, educational and research tasks

· Apply structured prompting techniques to get more useful, audience-appropriate AI outputs

· Use AI to support patient communication, particularly for complex or emotionally sensitive conversations

· Access and evaluate evidence-based clinical AI tools appropriate for point-of-care use

· Describe the key data governance, bias and environmental considerations relevant to clinical AI use
