It is with great pleasure that I invite you to IPLOCA’s 58th Annual Convention in Athens, Greece. Athens is a city where past and present exist side by side, where history is not something you visit, but something you feel. It is therefore a particularly fitting place for us to gather this year as we celebrate 60 years of IPLOCA. From humble beginnings to the global community we have become today, this milestone is a testament to the strength of our network and the relationships that have carried us forward. With this in mind, we have made a real effort to ensure this year’s convention truly stands out.

There is something powerful about this city. It is where ideas were born, where dialogue, debate, and collaboration shaped the foundations of modern society. In many ways, this spirit mirrors what IPLOCA stands for today. As our industry undergoes rapid transformation, the need to come together, exchange ideas, and build meaningful partnerships has never been more important.

 Throughout the week, we will create space for both reflection and forward thinking. Our Open General Meetings and Annual General Meeting will provide an opportunity to reflect on the past year, align on future priorities, and address key industry challenges. A key focus this year will be the growing role of technology, particularly artificial intelligence, and how these are reshaping the way we design, build, and deliver infrastructure. Equally important is investing in people and attracting the next generation to our industry. Through our NextGen community, an initiative I am personally very invested in, we are actively supporting and empowering future leaders, creating space for fresh perspectives and ensuring long-term resilience.

 At its core, this convention is about connection.

 Beyond the formal programme, the convention offers many opportunities to connect on a more personal level. Whether through structured B2B meetings or informal moments, these interactions are often where the most meaningful relationships, and friendships, are built. Complementing this, we have curated a series of exceptional experiences that reflect the richness of Greece, including visits to the Acropolis Archaeological Site, Ancient Corinth with a wine tasting experience, and the Aegina Island cruise, providing the ideal setting for these connections to grow.
