Summer Scientific Meeting 2026
Join us in person or online for the annual Faculty of Public Health Medicine Summer Scientific Meeting taking place over two days on 19 and 20 May 2026.
This year’s event reflects on public health medicine in Ireland, past, present and future, and will bring together leading experts to share their knowledge and perspectives.
Speakers
We are thrilled to welcome Professor John Middleton, President of the Global Network for Academic Public Health (GNAPH), who will deliver a keynote address on 19 May on “Courage in Dark Times for the Health of the Public”, providing a global perspective on the challenges facing public health.
Former Chief Medical Officer of Ireland, Professor Tony Holohan will share insights from his experience leading public health in Ireland.
On 20 May, Dr Tracey Cooper, Chief Executive of Public Health Wales, will present on “Leading through Challenge – the Public Health Solution”, offering practical perspectives on leadership in public health.
Don’t miss the opportunity to hear from some of the foremost leaders in public health medicine.
Presentations
The event will showcase Short and Long Oral Presentations. These presentations will be based on a competitive scientific abstract submission process.
Poster Tour
The event will also include an active Poster Tour led by Dr Kevin Kelleher, Dean of the Faculty of Public Health Medicine, which will provide the authors with an opportunity to present their work and answer questions from the audience.
The meeting will conclude with the announcement of the prize winners.
The RCPI Faculty of Public Health Medicine Summer Scientific Meeting is a key event in the college calendar and forms part of the faculty’s 50th anniversary celebrations.
