Pro Bono Week 2026: Celebrating 25 Years of Pro Bono Week

An evening with the Scottish Pro Bono Round Table

Pro Bono Week is 25 years old this year. To mark the occasion, the Faculty of Advocates is hosting an evening for the Scottish Pro Bono Roundtable, and we hope you and colleagues from your firm will come.

A person who cannot pay for a lawyer usually begins at an advice agency. Often that is not enough. They need a solicitor to write a letter, or to act for them, or to take their case to court, and sometimes an advocate as well. Too many never find that help or find it too late. The Round Table is trying to link the agencies, solicitors and advocates who can help, so that the right person reaches the right lawyer sooner. It cannot do this without more solicitors and more firms.

The evening is mainly for meeting one another. A few short talks will set out what is needed and how the Round Table works. Then lawyers who have done pro bono work will tell you about it: what they did, what it asked of them, and what they got from it. After that, there will be an opportunity to chat, ask questions, and see where your firm might fit in.

Canapés and refreshments will be served, therefore, please advise of any dietary requirements.
